Billy Witch

80 minutes; 3 M, 3 F, flexible ensemble up to 20 / immersive set

Winner Of The 2015-16 Reva Shiner Comedy Award

Newcomer Oliver encounters the possessed pubescence of his fellow campers at the Blue Triangle Nature Fun Time Summer Camp. Along with fireside ghost stories, lunch time sing-a-longs, Vagina Cephalopada, and strangely perky counselors lurking behind every tree, Oliver discovers just how monstrous the mutations of adolescence can be. An ‘80s tinged mashup of teen soap opera, coming of age drama, Friday the 13th style slasher films and Restoration farce, Billy Witch is an unhinged visit to a summer camp you’ll never forget.

“...a gleeful romp... takes familiar ingredients of high school horror — summer camp, a lake, a forest, ghost stories — and hurls them into a whirlwind of comic sexual awakening.”

— The New York Times

“...an entertaining riff on the iconic ’80s sleep-away camp scenario... this funny, sharp script takes sudden twists and dark, dark turns... half “Wet Hot American Summer” and half “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” Billy Witch is an engaging romp that blurs the lines of metaphor, comedy and reality.”

— Wilmington Star
